Built for high-capacity data centre fabrics
The QFX5250 has 64 OSFP ports, each supporting speeds up to 1.6 Tbps. Together, they provide up to 102.4 Tbps of throughput in a single switch. The platform can be deployed as a spine or leaf switch in an IP fabric, and supports 200G, 400G, 800G and 1.6T configurations.
That flexibility can help network teams plan for changing requirements: from high-speed top-of-rack connectivity to spine layers and data centre interconnects. Port breakout options also allow interfaces to be configured for different speeds to suit the design.
Designed with AI workloads in mind
AI and machine learning workloads can put heavy pressure on network bandwidth and congestion management. HPE describes the QFX5250 as using AI-optimised Junos OS capabilities for congestion avoidance and control, supporting the low-loss network environment needed by AI data centres.
The switch is also positioned for AI and machine learning clusters, as well as HPC and other high-performance data centre applications. Its routing and fabric capabilities support designs that need to scale while maintaining predictable network performance.
Liquid cooling for dense deployments
The QFX5250-64OE-L is a liquid-cooled model designed for installation in ORv3 racks. It draws power from the rack busbar and connects to the rack’s coolant manifolds, making rack compatibility and cooling infrastructure important considerations when planning a deployment.
For data centres planning a move to higher-density AI infrastructure, the QFX5250 brings together high-speed Ethernet, flexible fabric roles and a cooling approach designed for compatible rack environments.
Planning a QFX5250 deployment?
Choosing the right switch configuration involves more than port speed. Rack compatibility, cooling, optics, breakout requirements and the wider network design all need to be considered.
